Introduction
Ace FTP by Visicom Media is an FTP program which allows you to store the login information for multiple FTP servers, and quickly and easily transfer files between your hard drive and the server.
In short, when you load the program you have two windows open, side by side - one being your hard drive, the other is the server. Buttons inbetween the two windows allow you to transfer files to and from the server.
Good Points
Simple to use with many features.
Lots of configuration options which allow you to see the retry atempts and delays, the root directory and lots more.
Lockstep folder navigation feature, which basically allows you to navigate your PC's hard drive and the servers files at the same time, provided they have the same folders (this is very useful for when you are uploading website files, when you will always have the same file structure on the server as on your hard drive). At the same time this is also a weakness of the program, as sometimes it becomes 'out of sync' and moving up a level on the server takes you out of the folders you need to be looking at on your hard drive.
Bad Points
As said above, the Lockstep Folder Navigation sometimes becomes out of sync, and moving up a level on the server also moves you up and out of the folders you need to be in on your hard drive.
Sometimes gets 'stuck' when uploading and you have to re-upload to make sure everything gets uploaded properly.
The Verdict
A great FTP program to use and try out, and it's cheap to register. However, this program is not without bugs, but for what I need it for it works just fine for me - besides, FTP is all about the transfer of files to and from a server, and in this respect the program is almost flawless, and with an array of features available to you (which i've never seen the need to explore) this program is probably as good as you are going to get.
