Introduction
Ipod's little brother is now in store and is smaller than ever, packing a massive 4GB of memory into such a small device making it the coolest MP3 Player available today.
Ipod mini is available in a range of colours (Blue, Silver, Pink, Green and Gold) and features the all new click-wheel - Unlike previous Ipods the menu buttons are situated underneith the touch sensetive wheel and are activated by pressing down on each button.
All the features from the regular Ipods are also found on the Ipod mini, and the ipod mini does not include anything new in that department.
Good Points
Very sleek design, and the whole thing feels much more durable when you're holding it, whereas the regular Ipods feel like they can be damaged easily (in my opinion).
The Ipod Mini comes in a variety of colours, and the finish on them is excellent - metalic paint look.
Click wheel is innovative and quicker to use than the regular touch wheel, and helps make the ipod mini as small as it is, which makes holding and using it with only one hand easy and comfortable.
Ipod mini is scratch resistant, so you don't always have to keep it in a protective case.
Comes with both the Firewire Cable and USB 2.0 cable.
Comes with 4 good games loaded onto it which are great to play while waiting for the bus.
Bad Points
Doesnt hold as much memory as it's bigger brother, but 4GB is enough for me personally.
I do fear that with the constant clicking of the touch wheel, it's more likely to become worn compared to the all-touch-sensetive Ipod.
Doesn't come with all the extras like the 20GB Ipod did - with the Ipod Mini you must buy the docking station, protective case and remote seperately, at around ?20 - ?30 each.
The Verdict
Ipod's are great, and the arival of the Ipod Mini reinforces that. If like me you don't tend to buy a lot of albums, but like lots of individual songs then the 4GB of memory is easily enough to store your music, but if you really are a music fanatic, and own every Led Zeppelin album under the sun then you'll most likely fill the 4GB storage space in no time, so may want to consider a 20 or 40GB Ipod.
