Introduction
I bought this phone a few months ago when I signed up a new contract with 02. The phone came free with my contract and my deal was the ?30 a month 200 any time, any network minutes.
The phones list of features is quite good, but not extensive.
The features available are really good, such as the calendar function allows you to add memos and todo lists to certain days of the month, and you can skip ahead as many months as you need to and add the memo for whatever day. This feature is easy to use and the graphical interface of it makes it all the more simple.
Good Points
Ringtones on this phone are polyphonic, and the standard ones, while not very pleasing to listen to, are of high quality sound and downloadable ones are available to buy from various places online, which are very good. Voice tones are also available for this phone, however the quality is often very bad.
Very stylish design and a very compact phone! The flip feature means you will never accidently dial someone and waste your credit / phone bill again.
The phone has a dual colour screen so you can see who is calling you before you answer it.
The camera on the Samsung E700 is fantastic and of very high quality, and when browsing the photos on your phone, they load very quickly unlike on some nokia phones where it takes a few second for the phone to load the new image and display it.
Text messaging is easy and you always know how many characters you have left, and how many messages the one you are writting, spans.
Buttons are very nice and light and easy to click which I think is important on a phone.
Quite large memory storage and holds a lot of photos, ring tones and other stuff.
Java downloads available.
Animated backgrounds available.
Bad Points
Phone is somewhat buggy, and turns itself off occasionaly, even when the battery is full.
Screen is hard to see sometimes is bright sunlight.
Don't be fooled by images of this phone where they show a good quality photo on the front screen - the front screen can't display good quality images, and you cannot even keep a still image on this screen anyway, it simply displays what the camera sees when the camera is turned on.
Predictive text dictionary is not very extensive so often a common word will need to be manually typed.
often you will accidently take photos in your pocket as you can take photos by pressing the side button.
The game on the E700 are pretty slow running and much older phones with similar games, run them much smoother.
The Verdict
This is a good phone, but I would not recommend it, as a new model is available now (E710) which has a flash built in for the camera
If you are on a contract and get this phone for free you cant complain, but I would warn you not to spend close to ?300 on a 'pay as you go' version of this phone.
