Introduction
This is the swanky new Phone from motorola that i've had my eye on for about two months.
Looks: 9/10
This phone looks beautiful, it's sleek, elegant and not too large, not too small. In my opinion the best looking new phone out there at the moment. The phone opens by pushing the top down and it flips open, just beautiful, although be careful...it has the tendancy to jump out of your hand when doing this. One other thing i should mention, at the back of the phone is a little rubber flap which hides the charging plug...don't expect that to last, it's very flimsy.
The display on the front is actually very useful displaying who's ringing, text messages, time, battery life, signal strength and again, looks great.
Features Hardware 4/10
Considering how new the phone is it has very poor features. The camera is only 0.3mp meaning the photos just about pass as viewable. However, the camera does have a very good zoom ability (4x). You can change the exposure to try and take pictures in darker environments but in all honesty it doesn't really work all too well.
It does have video capability which is nice but it has the HIGHLY annoying feature that you can't take a video of more than 6 seconds, so currently i'm allowed to take 54, 6 second videos but not even one 7 second video, ridiculous. Again don't expect great quality from the video.
Features Software 6/10
Standard phone software package, office tools, calculator, alram clock, calendar, GPRS, Bluetooth, Java, games, blahdy blahdy blah.
The phone is advertised everywhere as being able to play MP3 ringtones but not actually have an MP3 player. What does this mean? i have no idea, from what i can tell it doesn't have the ability to play mp3 ringtones whatsoever. I've had mp3 files sent to me and phone has not been able to play them or set them as ringtones...so beware, don't be fooled!
Another annoying feature, if you set a special ring tone for a person/catagory it also changes the text message tone to the actual ringer. I found this excruciating that everytime i recieved a text it would play my ring tone and not just a beep that i had to stop using this feature.
I have found the menu system difficult to get used to, but then i've been using a siemens for 4 years.
I did have to change the phone twice inside 3 weeks. once for a faulty speakerphone and once for a faulty battery. But carphoone warehouse were great and gave me no trouble.
