Consumes a lot of energy, last time I tried to upgrate firmware and that was a serious mistake. I took software from www.mpmaneurope.net/downloads.aspx and my FUB26 died completly but after dissasembling it and little operation with needle it is working again

Good Points
Reasonable price compared to other 1Gb players, looks good.
Bad Points
Bcklight stays on for a nanno second so you can't read the screen. Software wouldn't load on the 2 machines I tried it on. Support site says I should go back to MS service pack 1 until MS sort out problems with service pack 2! This is the only item I've had a problem with.
The Verdict
Buy something else in the 1st place and save yourself a return trip back to the shop to buy something decent in the 1st place. No got a Samsung, spo far so good.

Good Points
It works as a Flash Disk, it plays my mp3 file...
Bad Points
The firmware is very buggy, no update on MPMAN website (there is only one firmare avaible for this model and it is worst than the one that come with)
The Verdict
it's not worth 120 ? . for this price it should work perfectly but that's not the case.

My experience with mp man
Good Points
Fantastic mp3 players, brilliant sound quality and loads of options to play with.
Bad Points
Must of the problems with these mp3 players can be easily fixed and for the money you save you can get a really nice piece of kit for only a few minutes work. Mail me if you need help getting yours to work or wish to sell yours to me so i can fix and resell. (sgtknightmare@hotmail.com)

Brilliant if you are not scared to gamble and fix it yourself. Easy to do and you get a great lil mp3 gadget out of it

Bad Points
it had Madonna and Westlife already on. Could not get it to work at all. Gaffer tried for ages, the PC failed to find the device.

Just a message to warn people about the firmware problem on the mpman site which breaks these. you can download working files on doselection.com or htelephones.co.uk/repair/reworkfub26.htm
Good Points
These are a pretty good player on the whole so long as you can work out how to use them properely

Introduction
Don't get tricked like I was ...
Good Points
only price .... if it worked ...
Bad Points
I had some menu navigation problems with my FUB26 512MB and I decided to upgrade the firmware. Stupid decision .... Well, I've downloaded the program from the mpmaneurope site, followed the instructions and the result is very disappointing: It stucks in a "starting ...." loop. Impossible to get it recognized by the PC, nor to do anything eles with it ... I googled for some solution and I found a forum ( http://6v8.gamboni.org/mpman-MP-FUB26.html ) where someone posted a message: "I can assure you that if you try to re-install the firmware on most of the mp-fub26 512mb models you will destroy it" The guy who posted this is a repairman from UK, and what I can tell you, HE WAS RIGHT ! Now my mpman is useless... So, be warned, don't trust the mpmaneurope site, they are aware of many problems with these craps thay are producing, but they won't recognize any of their faults... Still don't believe me ? Well, check any section of downloads, firmware update on the mpmaneurope site: they have a disclaimer saying they are not responsible if you apply that patch THEY are releasing ... Interesting, huh ? It's like buying a computer and the manufacturer say: "Install the operation system at your own risk, we are not responsible if you destroy the hardware"....
The Verdict
I was tricked, so STAY AWAY from this brand ! Better pay more for a good brand, don't consider ONLY the price when you are purchasing ....

I've now got my second "Sumvision" M18 which in all respects visual (and problematical!) is the same as the MPMAN MPFUB26 but with 1Gb memory. It randomly reboots and displays the now infamous "Starting..." message on the screen and this happened the 3rd time I switched it on and before I'd even loaded any MP3s onto it!
The Verdict
This really is a piece of CR@P but looks nice...

Introduction
The sales pitch was good, several friends had different makes and were problem free. This is a 512MB which seems to be double the trouble
Good Points
Absolutly none what so ever
Bad Points
Broke down after 2 days. On-line help takes 5 days for a response and is not worth waiting for. Takes another 5 days for a reply. You cannot re-install the mp programe either with XP,ME or windows 98.
A colleague has the same problem, his laster 4 days. You need a magnifying glass to read the instructions but don't bother as there is no real help anyway.
The Verdict
This company MPman should not be in business. Reliability 0. Back-up service 0. on-line help from mpman site 0. If your thinking of buying a mpman lie down till the feeling passes. or look at any other make than this one. I scored it one out of ten for it's looks

Introduction
Original value for money was good and got me interested in it.
Good Points
If it worked with no problems it would be spot on.
Bad Points
After reading these reviews I now realise I got one of the bad batch of these things, as said previously mine would freeze for no reason and re-start (including when connected to my PC), I wiped it and tryed to start again but it now loops saying "starting" and then switches itself off so its been relegated to the dustbin as the warranty as expired on it, I thought also the instructions were rubbish. I had wondered if using it whilst I was jogging was the reason.

My battery life was poor and some of my files wouldn't play, also the text on the screen came up as chinese on certain tracks.
The Verdict
If I buy another mp3 player I'm going to stay away from the large chain stores as I know people who've had problems with all sorts of makes of MP3 players from those places, I think I'd go to an on-line specialist and read the reviews people post before buying.
