Introduction
The Hughes & Kettner Edition tube is a 20 watt all valve, two channel amp with fx loop and speaker cabinet output. It uses a 12'' celestion speaker and EL84 valves for the power amp.
Good Points
The sound i can get from this amp is absolutely monstrous. 20 watts is just about fine when jamming with mates and when cranked this amp will really show you what it can do.
This amp offers up a fantastic mid range twangy high end and boomy bass if wanted!
The reverb is very very nice.
The clean channel is absolutely brilliant, very clear and crisp with that bite that you only get from valve amps!
The overdrive is fantastic, if you keep the gain down fairly low but hike the volume you can get a fantastic vintage tone.
The versatility this amp offers up is astounding for an amp that has one eq for both channels!
Comes with the Hughes & Kettner Fs-1 footswitch for channel changing. A really good, durable (thanks to metal casing) switch.
Looks really nice with the mauve canvass front and the funky Hughes & Kettner logo!
Bad Points
Would probably benefit from being 30 watts just to keep up with my drummer - He plays very loud!
The Verdict
Just brilliant in every way, i love this amp to bits - its great for jamming with mates, playing in your bedroom, and could handle pub size gigs no problems - i dont need anything else!
Unfortunately as this was a special edition amp they dont make it any more but if you ever come across one snap it up immediately! Failing that you might want to look at the 20th anniversary version of this amp.
Basically if you can find it then buy it!
