Introduction
This is a hybrid between a solid-state (transistor) and a Valve (tube) amp. It has a valve Pre-Amp with a solid state everything else
Good Points
Pretty much everything. It sounds like a Marshall and looks like a Marshall. Dont be phased by the lack of tubes, this thing sounds like a tube amp. In our study where I tested the volume, we managed to dislodge pictures from the wall and have the neighbour across the road bang on our door telling us to turn it down so it's DEFINATELY loud enough. If you dig the Marshall sound, you'll dig this amp. Especially for the budget price.
Bad Points
Typical of Marshall: The clean tone doesn't even compare to the clarity and warmth of a Fender. Also, some may find the 50 watt rating to be a tad low. However, overall this is a nicely-rounded amp.
The Verdict
If you're looking for an amp that's a step up from a Practice-Amp, this is what you want. It gives you the low end crunch, high screams and a decent clean tone. It's nice and well-rounded giving players a good chance to figure out where they wanna go or to play anything they want on it. It's also loud enough to work at small to medium gigs. It'll work anywhere except large outdoor or stadium gigs (by which stage, you probably can afford a Mode 4 anyway). It's definately a good buy and well worth the look.
