Introduction
This is the best amp you can get from the Marshall MG series. This is a two 50 watt power amp with two 12'' custom made stereo speakers. It has two channels with a seperate EQ for each. It has all the features you would expect from a mid sized amp such as an emulated line out, a CD in and a headphone jack. It also features a good range of digital effects and the amp is supplied with a double footswitch for the channel select and to turn the digital effects on and off. It also features an effects loop and the Marshall patented FDD switch that emulates the sound of a valve amp.
Good Points
This amp has a monsterous sound. The tone is amazing and with the great EQ settings you can get the exact sound you are looking for. The amp also has easily enough power for playing in clubs and pubs and is great for jams. The footswitch lets you turn the dfx on and off which is a brilliant feature. You may know the lower models in the MG series have these effects but no footswitch which pretty much rendered them useless. Also, the digital effects are actually really good for on board effects and i use them alot.
Bad Points
With this monsterous sound comes a monsterous weight. 22kg this thing weighs and carrying it to a friends house 25 meters away is not a fun job.
Although the FDD switch does its best to replicate a valve amp, you will never have that sound which in my opinion you can't beat.
The Verdict
A great amp at a very good price. Packed with features and packed with raw power. Unfortunate that it has to weigh so much but still a great sound for a solid state amp.
