Introduction
The Marshall Bluesbreaker II is a bi-functional stomp box. It has 4 controls on it, the first of which allows you to select the mode.
The first mode is Boost which nullifies the middle two controls and the 4th control is the volume pot which as you have probably guessed...controls the volume. This is the primary reason i bought the pedal - I needed a clean boost at the touch of a button that added no extra gain or tone, simply boosts your volume. This achieves that perfectly. Its a fantastic function.
The second mode on the first knob is called ''Blues''. Once you switch to this mode you can use the middle two controls ''Drive'' and ''Tone'' to control a very bluesy sound indeed! the volume pot also still works on this mode which is very useful. The tones you can get from this blues mode are absolutely gorgeous. In terms of drive effects i need nothing more than my amp and this pedal. Love it.
Good Points
It looks very very good - really stylish sleek silver design.
Red indicator LED so you know if its on.
Metal casing - incredibly durable, will hold up to a lot of punishment. Doesn't even seem to get scratch and i stamp on it daily with my shoes.
Lastly and most importantly its sounds are astonishing. The blues mode is amazing and the boost mode is very very useful.
Bad Points
If my amp is on full volume it doesn't seem to boost any higher which i suppose isn't a fault of the pedal but can be frustrating when jamming with friends.
The Verdict
If you need a clean boost then buy this pedal immediately.
If you like bassy bluesy tones for solo's then buy this pedal immediately.
If you like good looking pedals then buy this pedal immediately.
