Introduction
Zoom's small multi fx processor has 2 stomp pedals and an expression pedal. Has a large variety of effects on offer and is very easy to use. You can go through all the patches of effects quite easily with the two stomp pedals and you can assign a number of effect from wah to volume to the expression pedal.
Good Points
Plenty of effects to choose from including modulation effects - i.e. delay, wah etc.
Easy to use.
Cheap....relatively.
Although the unit is cased in plastic its surprisingly robust. can take quite a beating.
It looks quite cool.
A great introduction to effects for beginners.
Bad Points
Sounds absolutely rubbish. All the distortion effects sound like a computer that has diorreah. The modulation effects, with particular reference to the wah, sound absolutely awful.
The Verdict
This unit is intended for beginners to guitar who have no real experience with effects and don't really have an idea as to what they want from effects pedals. If thats you then this is the right pedal for you.
This is a difficult item to rate because for someone who has a bit more experience this unit is a load of crap...but for a beginner - which was me when I got this thing - its really great.
It did help me learn about effects and helped me to realise what I wanted from effects pedals. It also helped me to realise I would never buy an upmarket multi-effects pedal afterwards though. After using this unit I would only ever go for individual stomp boxes.
So I gave the item a 6 because for what it is intended for - beginners - it is fantastic and lets face it for the amount you get in there its good value for money. But ultimately you'll sell it coz one day you'll realise its crap.
