Introduction
Bought this in 2004 - needed amplified nylon string for gig work. Already had Godin ACS, which is lovely, and probably slightly superior for studio work, but looks too wacky for conventional jazz trio. Attracted by Taylor reputation and dealer advice.
Good Points
Great sound, lovely, understated appearance. Neck has plectrum guitar style, cambered fingerboard, which is what I need.
Bad Points
None, really. 2 years of steady gig work, no real problems. Only minor cribs are generic to all nylon strung electros: make sure the pre-amp battery is always fresh - any drop-off in voltage changes the sound. No compromise possible on amplifier quality, or the sound is wasted - footpedals, EQ tweakers etc no use, really. Invest in a pro-quality acoustic amp. I use an AER compact 60, DI'd into the PA mixer. Great - very sweet voice indeed. One further thing to watch: if you switch between heavy steel-strung and nylon strung instrument during gigs, best go for hard-action nylon strings (D'Addario EJ46), otherwise it feels like you've got a handful of rubber bands when you pick up the nylon!
The Verdict
Highly recommended. Later models probably have more sophisticated sound systems, but am very happy with mine.
