Introduction
For whom has already tried all the Boss pedals, this one is really diferent. This is truely a heavy metal pedal and i advise it to every one who plays from rock to extreme metal, because you will not find a pedal that delivers the goods like this one, for it?s sound, easy to use and price. You DON?T need equalizer or anything else. It stands on it?s own.
Sure the metal zone is classic but it?s too noisy and sounds like a bee. This one has the tone and maintains the agression and the filters are so well tuned that you woun?t be needing a equalizer.
Good Points
First it?s based on the distortion DS-1 pedal, which means that you really have two pedals in one(great!). I love the DS-1 sound because you can get the Steve Vai soloing sound as well as the Zakk Wild crushing distorion. But this pedal is different! The tone filter is improoved meaning that if you dial the tone to the max you woun?t get that fuzz sound that you get with the DS-1. The sound will not change - only the equalization. Another thing that?s different is the bottom tone. It?s really deep and gives you a fat tone(leave the bottom end to the amplifier - don?t abuse on this knob ?cos your sound will get muddy...) The distortion knob delivers plenty distortion(in fact it?s too much!). I use it almost on the minimum - much distortion is bad for your sound! Now the thing that is absolutely great in this pedal is the gain control. It is agressive and makes the difference. Try putting this on the maximum and the distortion to the minimum.
Bad Points
For me the only bad point is the noise. If this pedal had an inside noise gate it would be perfect...Well...that?s why there are noise gates on the market!
The Verdict
Best pedal i?ve played!(for me...) it?s better than the metal zone because it isn?t sharp, it?s better than the death metal of digiteck because it isn?t digital sounding and it?s better than the DS-1 because it?s a improoved DS-1 with a crushing gain. Absolutely insane!
