Acer also enters Ultrabook laptop market, unveiling ‘Aspire S3’

Acer has entered the ‘Ultrabook’ laptop class by introducing ‘Aspire S3’. It was exhibited at IFA electronics tradeshow in Berlin. The companies like Toshiba, Asus and Lenovo, which are leaders in Ultrabook, will experience tough competition form Acer. Aspire 3 is 13 mm thick and weighs 1.4 Kg. The processor is Intel Core i3, i5 or i7. The hard drive is of 320 GB to 500 GB. Optionally a Solid State Drive (SSD) of 240 GB is also available. There is a vent free underside as in the case of U 300 of Lenovo. A 13.3 inch HD LED display is also available. The chassis is out of magnesium or aluminium ally. The Ultrabook with SSD will have battery lasting for seven hours. Wi-Fi (Wireless Fidelity) and Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity are included. USB (Universal Serial Bus) ports HDMI (High Definition Multimedia Interface) ports are also there. The other things included are a two-in-one card reader and 1.3 MP webcam. There are also two important instant facilities – ‘Instant Connect’ and ‘Green Instant On’ which will enable the laptop to connect to the internet in just two to three seconds. The laptop will surface on selected locations during this month. The cost will vary between € 799 and € 1,199.
