Apple well ahead of others with ‘Bring your own device’ (BYOD) program

By: Rex Inego | Sep 26, 2011 08:46 AM

There are many programs which grant the corporate some hold in the choice of technology. If the Information Technology standards can be relaxed to some extend, there will be one winner, namely, Apple, but there will be many losers like ‘Research In Motion’, Lenovo, Dell, HP etc. In companies like Kraft Foods, Netflix and Citrix, instead of providing some standard laptop configuration to the employees, they are given some cash to make a purchase of their choice. They know how a sale can be achieved among consumers more than in corporations. Smartphone preference has been given more importance than the ability of the IT to curtail the ecosystem. 48% of the consumers are not concerned about the standard setting of the companies. The instructions from the higher authorities probably have made the consumers settle for the device. iPad is solely responsible for this, because the top officials of he compelled them to buy the product. It may not be possible to estimate the gain of Mac in this connection, but there is ample proof in the case of Citrix. 460 out of the 1000 Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) employees opted to purchase a Mac. Paul Martine of Citrix is quite surprised at this.
