Host, Corn Exchange, Market Square, Bishops Stortford

This modern restaurant offers a variety of dishes from various of nations including traditional roasts to Italian pasta dishes. The small bar and restaurant opens for lunch and dinner Monday to Saturday and opens for lunch on a Sunday.

Pros: This restuarant can be suited to couples requiring an intimate dining experience or a group wanting good food. The decor is warm and inviting with brick walls, tea lights, wooden floors and a plasma screen being used to display a burning fireplace. In the summer Host offers outside dining and drinking on the terrace overlooking Bishop's Stortford town. You can choose from two menus; a la carte or set menu. Both offer a variety of freshly prepared food at fairly reasonable prices. The menu changes frequently - this was my second visit and the range of different dishes offered was impressive. Mouthwatering food - especiallly the tempura trout with chopped chilli's and sweet chilli dressing. I couldn't imagine this dish mixing that well but i was extremely wrong. I would also recommend the strawberry eton mess! Beautifully presented and tasted wonderful. Large portion sizes - even though the portions look smaller as the plates are oversized. An extensive wine list is offered covering the average to most expensive wines and champagnes from around the world. Friendly staff.

cons: Quite expensive for a meal for two when not drinking alcohol - this is definetly one for special occassions. Although the price paid included a tip.

conclusion: The price paid reflects the high quality food and service received. I can't wait to go back and take my friends and family.
