The Merry Harriers, Cullompton

By: Rex Inego | Aug 02, 2004 09:24 PM

A nice light pub on a old main rd between Cullompton and Exeter the same rd. that travellers from bristol into the south west used to take. The pub is situated 3 miles south of cullompton on the B3181 and is only accessible from the M5 motorway via Cullompton off junction 28.

Pros: A Great pub with friendly unobtrusive owners. Excellent English food and local game with a huge varied menu. Front and back beer gardens. A great meeting place for travellers and locals.

cons: The pub is not huge but rarely can you not get a table. The pub has a bar area and a restaurant style area with bar access from that. The pub can get fairly busy and crowded especially on saturdays and some weekdays, sundays are generally quiet.

conclusion: A good classic devonshire pub that isn't too steeped in history and the smell of the past. Neither is it mock traditional. It is a non prententious lively pub that recieves a lot of trade.
