Toby Carvery, Burnt Mill, Harlow

Toby Carvery in Harlow is part of a big chain of restaurants offering carvery all day every day.

Located after one of Harlow's main roundabouts, it's impossible to miss. The bright pink building with a massive ''Toby Carvery'' sign out the front is where to find top quality food at a great price!

Pros: Carvery food all day, every day! Nowhere else can you get carvery whenever you want it. All you can eat vegetables and yorkshire puddings. Generous portion of meat, with a choice of either Gammon (ham), Turkey or Roast Beef. I recommend the turkey, though you are allowed a bit of each if you ask. It's a bit of a gamble choosing the gammon because you never know if it's going to be too salty or not. Large selection of vegetables from peas and carrots, to new potatoes, parsnips and roast potatoes. Broccoli and colliflower are also on offer as well as a few other things. Very large yorkshire puddings! They take up most the plate which is only a good thing. Since you can eat as much veg as you want don't be put off by how much room the yorkshires take up. Don't forget these are also included in the ''eat as much as you like'' deal. Friendly staff at both the bar and in the restaurant. Very cosy amosphere all round and even an open fire if you are lucky enough to be seated in that area. The restaurant is split in to two sections - the bar/waiting area and the main restaurant. The bar is actually larger than the restaurant, and gets very busy while you wait for your table. Other traditional food is available to people who don't fancy a carvery. The prices are fantastic. It costs only ?7 per person for the buffet carvery, and drinks are average prices, making a meal out at the carvery affordable for everyone.

cons: Waiting times are often quite long. tonight we waited for 45 minutes for a table. You are told from the beginning how long it will take and it's up to you if you want to wait that long. The gammon/ham is often very salty. Tonight it was too salty for me to bare so i left it. Luckily when ordering you can ask for a bit of each so i wasn't left without any meat.

conclusion: Definitely worth a visit every now and again. If you haven't been already then i would advise you to go immediately. For excellent prices and a great atmosphere (not to mention great food!) this is the place. 9 out of 10
