Hair Ott is one of the Premier Three Salons group in Portsmouth which has been awarded an Investors in People award because of its highly acclaimed training apprenticeships. They use Tigi, Bed Head and Paul Mitchell products. After the salon was recommended by a friend I decided to have a cut and T-Section highlights there. I had a full consultation and the stylist actually seemed to be interested in my me and my hair. She also tried a number of techniques specifically for my texture and length of hair.
You can choose the price range of your hair cut ranging from about ?23 to 45.
Really friendly and polite staff who conststantly made sure I was happy - the Junior was also very nice and actually seemed to enjoy her job. I was made to feel special and was called by my first name.
I was offered a head and shoulder massage free of charge.
I wasn't bullied into buying any products, although they told you what they were using and how it helps your hair.
They offer a full menu of free beverages including Martini! I asked for a cup of tea and expected a simple mug - instead I received a tray with a pot of tea, cup and saucer, a jug of milk, spoon and sugars! I was also asked if I wanted another drink and was also offered some magazines to read.
The salon was clean, tidy and modern (but not too over the top) and the music was not too loud.
I received a complimentary ?5 for my next visit and received a half price voucher for a friend to use. The price for a T-Section was a little expensive.
I can see see some roots through the T-Section area - although my boyfriend assures me you cannot see anything (I have a reputation for being extremely picky). Fantastic experience even though I think my cut could have been a little more drastic (if that makes sense)! I would definetly recommend their services and return again myself. I've give it 8.5 out of 10!

Excellent salon. I have been having my hair cut there for about 2 years now and I have never had a bad cut. My hairdresser Michelle always listens to how I want my hair cut, and I am also looked after with cups of tea and plenty of magazines.

All i wanted was a trim... At first the staff seem very friendly (at reception). There are too many staff and trainees running around all over the place, they have no compassion or care for customers and completely embarrassed me in front of an entire salon full of customers when they ASSUMED i had head lice when i have dermatitis - which i explained BEFORE i had anything done to my hair! After having my hair washed and combed very VERY harshly, TWICE, the hairdresser shouted accross the room for a collegue to come over who looked at my hair for no more than 1 second, declare it MUST be nits, based on ZERO evidence and made me feel like a complete lepper. I will NEVER use Hair Ott EVER again after this experience. I have since sought out medical advice and confirmation that i DO NOT have head lice and will be making a formal complaint about the way i was treated. Even if it was nits it wouldnt bother me coz they are easily treated, but it is the way that this entire situation was handled that was just utterly appalling. No people skills what-so-ever, and considering the person cutting my hair had been there for 7 years, if she hasn't learnt any by now, she never will. Utterly useless.
