Introduction
Been on Cilest for 2 months now after a 5 month break from contraception.
Good Points
Not preggers!
No weight gain!
Regular bleeding!
Good skin!
Bad Points
Mood swings!
Feel irritable!
Painful cramps!
Nausea!
The Verdict
So far, after being on this pill for 2 months, all seems ok other than the few bad points listed. However, i am just an unlucky girl who just seems to have faults with any contraception, as some girls do apparently (according to my doctor!)
I am only 24yrs old and so far in the 8 yrs i have been sexually active i have been on 6 differnt forms of contraception.
Firstly, it was Lagynon. That was TERRIBLE! I was bleeding for months, moody etc which all led to a pill change after 3 months to Microgynon. That also was terrible and caused more bleeding, which led to tests being done and a Laporoscapy operation. (camera through the belly button to see if womanly bits were all ok)
I then had a break for things to settle down and it took 3 months so then went on the Depo injection! OMG! That has to be the worst!! I bled for 6 months with the odd day of freedom. So, i stopped that, then had another pill called Yasmin. Worked ok at first but got caught out on this one. I was a religious pill taker but unlucky.
As that was kind of a put off, i had the Merina Coil fitted. This would have been ok if i had it fitted properly. It was uncomfortable and i could feel it when i was sat down so arrange for it to be removed but chose not to have it put back in. I gave my body a month to rest and then went on a pill called Binovum. This was ok too but i was an animal! I lost all my sex drive, i was anxious, (probably about being on the pill itself) and my periods were all over the place.
I had had enough at this point and gave my body a 5 month break, using condoms only and then went to take Cilest.
So far, this is the best one i have been on and all seems settled. My periods are very regular, almost the the date and i seem to have stayed the same weight and temperment.
All in all, i think different pills suit different people. This is the best out of the many i have taken anyway. Its only been 2 months so i shall keep my fingers crossed.

p.s- all the swapping and changing of contraception was my doctors decisions.

Introduction
Been on it for about a year now, started taking it for period pains.
Good Points
Hardly any period pains at all, and for the most part has evened out moodswings (except this last month), haven't got pregnant.
Bad Points
Since my last break, I've been bleeding despite taking the pill every day. It's not heavy but it's annoying, and my hormones have gone haywire. I'm almost constantly low and irritable.
The Verdict
Not bad for some things, but support and information for side-effects is virtually non-existent.

Introduction
I changed to Cilest after my doctor advised me to come off Dianette as I exceeded the safe time limit for being on this pill. I have been taking Cilest for just over four months now with few problems.

I was worried that my spots may return when I stopped taking Dianette, but Cilest has been fantastic and my skin is still pretty good. Admittedly, I could have grown out of them. The pills themselves are admittedly bigger to swallow, but that's not much of a problem.

During the first month of taking Cilest, my body reacted to the change by putting me on a two week light period, which was unexpected. However, since then my periods have been light and regular,
Good Points
No return of spots
No weight gain
Regular & light periods
No mood swings
No babies - but have been using with condoms
No loss of sex drive
Bad Points
Large pill to swallow
At start, period was initially irregular
The Verdict
So far this pill has been excellent, but I am only judging from four months use.

Been on the pill just over 8 months, i'm a complete bitch. I started mainly for acne but I began using it as a contraceptive 6 months ago & there's been a couple of scares.
Good Points
Not pregnant. Clear skin...that's it
Bad Points
Put on weight so my tiny 4-6 figure went to 8-10. Still get period pains, sometimes worse than before the pill. Moody bitch 24/7 (esp during my period). Unregular periods.

If you don't need it, don't use it. If you do...change pill!!!

I have been on Cilest for 10 years. After reading the other comments I was shocked. Admittedly, Cilest is the only Pill I have used, but I think it's great. I have never had any problems with it at all. I would recommend it to anyone.
I have recently come off the pill as I want to try to get my body working 'normally' before my husband and I try for a baby. My body is feeling different - bloating and slight pain in the stomach and periods seem to come whenever they fancy...but I'm sure that's pretty normal so I'm not worrying!
Good Points
No pregnancy scares
No mood swings
Bad Points
None

Introduction
I decided to go on the contraceptive pill after a close brush with the 'b' word (baby). My doctor advised me to go on Cilest after I expressed my interest in the Pill as both a contraceptive and to lessen my dysmenorrhea (period pains) . I am a healthy 21 year old female with a good diet, and no history of any major health ailments, so I wasn't too worried about starting on the Pill.
Unfortunately four or five days after starting on Cilest I noticed I was becoming severely moody, upset and irritable. I would cry for absolutely no reason, which was worrying. I became even more concerned the next day as I noticed various symptoms, including the following: feeling fatigue and napping during the day, waves of nausea, loss of appetite, fever, unsettled stomach, uncomfortable water retention. At first I thought I was suffering from a winter virus, but instinct kicked in and I contacted my GP. I am now awaiting a change of pill, though the experience has frightened me a little.

The main reason I have experienced such symptoms has apparently to do with the current stage my menstrual cycle was in (ie just after my period), when the body should theoretically get ready for ovulation. Of course Cilest tricks the body into thinking it's pregnant, which results in a clashing of hormones. The options I were given were to stay on the medication to see if it calms, or change. Unfortunately I had already taking enough time from work and so it wasn't an option for me.

I'm sure there have been women who have had a pleasant experience from Cilest, and as with all medication, it varies from person to person. Sadly it didn't work for me.
Good Points
* a good form of contraception if instructions are followed correctly
* withdrawal bleed is often less painful than a 'real' period
* can protect against certain cancers in younger women
* some say it improves skin tone, etc
* protects you from your first pill
Bad Points
* not guaranteed to be side-effect free for everyone
* side effects can be severe and limit daily routine
* the experience I had with Cilest
The Verdict
Not for everyone. If in doubt, always visit your GP for advice to put your mind at rest.

Introduction
I have to admit first off that I got ahold of these pills through a friend as I was travelling and couldn't afford to get a prescription filled... BIG MISTAKE!
I have now been on the pill for 4-5 months and the side effects are huge...
Good Points
-not prego
-bigger boobs
- thats it!
Bad Points
-lower sex drive
-tired a lot
-random spotting...and even a full period 1 week after my last (it was not a miscarriage I checked into it)
-gained a lot of weight (probably why the bigger boobs... so not worth it)
-my skin was more sensitive
-MOST IMPORTANTLY THEY MADE ME GO CRAZY!!! I was soo emotional.. like a rollar coaster... I nearly lost my boyfriend! I was acting soo irrationally and I had mood swings without warning... I nearly had to see a doctor about depression...
The Verdict
My overall verdict!.... TERRIBLE! I am 28 years old and have been on many different types of pill, but I would never recommend this to anyone... unless you work it out with your doctor, but please heed my warning. This is not a pill for girls who are already emotional, or are going through any kind of stress in their lives! Please consider alternate pills...

- Almost No Period Pain or cramps
Bad Points
For the first 2 months
- Bad Nausea
- Stomach Swollen
- Burping, wind in stomach
- Generally feeling unwell
- Feeling and looking bloated
- WAAY Emotional

After first 2 months
- Am bigger all over..the doctor said it was fat deposits..nothing to do with my diet or excercise routine...I just got bigger all over.
- Breakthrough bleeding and lots of black clotting
The Verdict
I want to come off this Pill, was on Microlite (Ireland) for years with no problems, Loestrin 20 had no side effects except to say I never got a period.maybe 2 in a year, this Pill has made my face bloated and thighs, stomach .. just softer..fat deposits my doctor said.

Have been prescribed Yasmin and after reading reviews and after what I experienced in the first 2 months on Cilest.. I AM AFRAID! May wait til after Christmas to try going off Cilest.

I also feel that i have also cut down on the amount i am eating.

I have been on it for nearly 4 months. First two months I realized I screwed up by taking 2 packs back to back, missing a pill or two in that time period as well. But then began to take it regularly (with a 7 day break in between), for the last 2 months. I had never been on birth control before this.
Good Points
-not prego
-weight loss (I am usually succeptible to gaining weight from anything, but if anything this has caused me to lose weight). During my
-still have cramps with a period, but reduced by 40%
Bad Points
-Breakthrough bleeding for the start-period lasted 5 weeks, very very heavy! And even again in my 3rd month, it lasted 15 days.
-periods don't come during my 7 day break (lately)
-spurts of depression (this is lately)
-insomnia (lately)
-loss of libido (since the start)
-felt sick at first (stomach pains, but not cramps, hard to describe)
-irregular bloating (this is lately)
-boobs hurt at the start (possibly because of the constant period)
-need lots of sleep (lately)
The Verdict
Maybe too early to switch because it is only the 4 month anniversary, and my body still maybe adjusting. I just want someone to tell me that this can happen on any pill and I will be happy to stay on it. If I discover these symptoms are very extreme for contraceptives in general, I will definitely switch asap!

Introduction
I have been reading the reviews for this pill and I am totally amazed. I have been on this for 11yrs and I have never had any problems, in fact after starting on this my periods have become more regular (like clockwork) lighter and with no period pains at all. I dont get mood swings, weight gain has never been an issue and on two occassions my husband and I decided to try for a baby and fell pregnant within the first month of stopping taking cilest (on both occassions) so it obviously has not affected my fertility. When starting back on the pill after both my children I did not experience any personality changes??? and have been successfull in loosing my baby weight (3.7 stone the first baby)so the fact I have no issuse with this is not just because Ive been on it for so long and not noticed any changes.
Good Points
lighter periods

no period pains

periods like clockwork

good fertility when taking a break to try for two children

never been caught out although missed the odd one here and there
Bad Points
Absolutly none
The Verdict
The only pill on the market that people should be taking. A particulary good one for anyone starting out as a first attempt. You wont need to keep swapping pills as this will work!!!

Only been on Cileste
for five days and i'm undecided.
This is my third pill in a year (started on microG30, switched to loestrin20 as it just was NOT working out for me and discovered at the start of this month i have cysts on one of my ovaries so was told to try a higher pill and was prescribed cilest). I thought it was going fine, pleased because it looks like i'll be off my period by around tomorrow (on both my previous pills i was bleeding for around 20mdays at a time) however i am absolutely exhausted.
Good Points
>really like the cover for the blister pack...stops the pills popping out in my bag
>appears to be making my period shorter
Bad Points
>completely exhausted. I slept for aroung eight hours last night and had to have a nap this afternoon. (i'm usually good to go on about four or five hours)
>not sure if it's related but i've had terrible muscle pain/tenderness. yesterday evening it felt like i'd been excersizing for a year. I've also been incredibly distracted/dopy and am having huge trouble concentrating. i'm irritable also. (i dont know if this is due to the pill as i'm not sure kit could affect me that soon?)
The Verdict
will obviously give it longer than a week but i'm not sure about giving it the whole three months. i had my doubts about going on a higher dosage pill to begin with and i don't feel quite right.

Introduction
I started taking Cilest when I first met by boyfriend now husband. I took it for 7/8 months and found it to be OK.

Before I took it I was a size 10 with polycystic ovaries and regular periods.

After taking it I put on a bit of weight, felt sick in the morning but breakfast stopped this. My sex drive was fine, my skin was Ok, I knew exactly what to expect in my monthly cycle for example, 1st & 2nd week happy normal me, 3rd week Pmt, headache, bloating, 4th week period and a bit tired but ok.

In June 2007 we sold our houses and bought one together, I got a new job, and with all this I must have forgot taking one of my pills. It wasnt until the August that I felt a bit weird and realised I was pregnant. I now have a beautiful little 8 month old boy.

Its not all that bad? It's just a personal thing.

I had a coil fitted after having my son but unfortunatley I had continuous heavy bleeding from July to October so had it taken out. So I have started Cilest again. I am overweight and a size 14 but after taking Cilest for a month I am a size 14/16 so I may come off it just to help myself loose some weight.

Hope this answers a few questions about your fertility after taking it.

When I went to first get the pill at the FP clinic two women in the waiting room told me to watch Cilest beacause they got caught on it. I laughed at the time and I'm laughing now cos I honestly thought with my PCOS I would never have children. In a previous relationship with my ex I had fertility investigations and treatment for 4 years. It was hurrendous!

So my story shows that anything can happen. Cilest is Ok if you take it right!
Good Points
Regular periods
No babys
Bad Points
Weight gain
Sickness in the morning
Immediate return of fetility if you stop taking it
The Verdict
Its ok! You Must take it for 3 months for it to settle down and when it does it's great!

Cilest...whare do i begin???

This is probably the worst pill i have EVER been on!!

I had previously tried microG, and cerezette, but the con's of those pills really seem like nothing compared to this pill!
Good Points
hmmm not getting pregnant
Bad Points
* weight gain ( about a stone and a bit over 4 months and i wan't even eating anymore than usual! perhaps less!! i was size 8 - now 12, gutted!)
* mood swings
* irregular bleeding
* headaches
* problem skin
The Verdict
Seeing as i came off of it 5 months ago and have been watching what i eat and exercising like mad, i still have not managed to loose the weight gained, when usually it drops off of me and i find it very hard to gain weight.

my periods still have not returned to normal!

I would seriously say to think very long and hard before taking this pill!

I feel like I'm going to be sick everyday, im pretty sure this is due to the 35micrograms of oestrogen in it but my doctor prescribed it to me eventhough i said i cant take much oestrogen!

ok so, the reason why i started taking cilest was because i had a scare...the condom broke and so....i realized that relying only on condoms wasnt very wise. I went to see a gyno and she told me to take cilest. She said it was good for people my age since the sideffects werent very bad and so on...i've been taking it for about 6 months now but i think im going to stop for a month to test the bad points...
Good Points
- reduced cramps to like almost NONE :D
- regular periods :P not a heavy flow at all and right on time.
- no pregnancy! (i've just always wondered though...is there a risk of you becoming infertile cuz of taking it for a long time?)

Bad Points
- i really did lose my sex drive:S i mean i hadnt really thought of the cause of it being Cilest...but after reading these reviews...i think it might be...
-im being really moody and snap easily...like really easily....my poor boyfriend...
The Verdict
well....i did give more good points than bad ones but the bad ones are really heavy....so i decided to try out for a month without taking Cilest....so i can be sure it really is the pill and not just normal hormonal stuff...i'll post back in a month to let you guys know how this little experiment went... :)

I came off Microgynon about 5 years ago due to not needing contraceptives, and when I went back on the pill 4 years ago my doctor put me on Cilest. Like others on here I didn't think I had a problem with it until reading the other reviews.

I had no sex drive, stomach cramps, heart palpatations but sadly my boobs didn't get bigger.

Now we are trying for a baby I have been off Cilest for 6 weeks I feel great. My boss even said the other day that I whatever I have taken I should carry on taking it, cus I've got so much more energy. When I go to work on Monday I'll tell her it's what I'm not taking that has made the difference!!! My husband also thinks it's great!!
Good Points
Works as a contraceptive.

Didn't make me put on weight.

Bad Points
Loss of sex drive

Stomach cramps and spasms.

Racing heart beat.

Have read that it can take up to 18 months to come out of your system when trying for a baby.

Wouldn't have said that I had a problem with until until I read the others on here. Now when I want to go back on the pill when I've (finally) had a baby, I'll be asking my doc for Microgynon!!

Started Cilest April 2008...

The first pack I took was great, I had just come off Mycro'g30 which made me have hellish moodswings.
Recently, I have been really irritable, since around July, and I lose my rag completely. I also throw up at times, usually in the morning.
My fiancée hates them because I snap at him all the time, especially the days before my 'period'. When I one day actually launched at him with no control.
I get really bad stomach cramps and bloat really badly. Not to mention back pain! I've actually managed to lose weight this month, so it has no weight gain effects on me.
The real question for me is "Is this pill worth taking or should I try another?"
I'm actually taking extra medication to calm myself.
Good Points
as every pill does. prevents children... most of the time.

Stomach Craps
Stress
Bad Moods
Incredibly Irritable
Back pain
Feeling Sick.

I reject it

I was on this pill for at least five years and experienced extreme low moods and being very angry for nothing. I didn't gain weight or get bigger boobs but I completely lost all interest in sex! I also seemed to lose all confidence in myself and felt ugly, fat and bloated even though I only weigh 61/2 stones.

After deciding to try for a baby, I came off the pill six weeks ago and have still not had a period yet. I have also had to cope with additional side effects including palpitations and panic attacks. I'm seeing my GP next week!
Good Points
Not getting pregnant
Periods only lasting 3-4days
Bad Points
Low self esteem
Cramps
No sex drive
Getting angry at the smallest of things especially in the morning
Moody
Tired all the time, headaches
Since coming off pill 6weeks ago I have experienced the more side effects - palpitations, severe panic attacks, tingling sensation on chest/arms/back.
The Verdict
I have been on a couple of different pills over the years but this was definitely the worst I've experienced. Not the pill for me and I would advise anyone wishing to come off this pill to visit their GP first as I wouldn't wish these side effects on anyone.

Introduction
I really like Cilest. Until recently I had been taking it for over 12 years, no bad effects, especially loved the control it gave me over my periods. However I had a migraine with aura and my doc changed me to the mini pill Cerazette. Well, I gave this 2 weeks and couldn't take it any more - my skin exploded, I've never had spots in my life so this was terrible. I put on weight and felt lethargic all the time, and I experienced a drop in my normally very strong libido! I stopped taking Cerazette last week and already the difference is amazing. My skin has almost gone back to normal, I have more energy and my tummy is going down. I'm seeing my doc tomorrow and will ask to go back onto Cilest, really do love this pill, it's perfect for me.
Good Points
My breasts went up from a C to and E cup, but that's ok with a well fitted bra!
Excellent skin.
Ability to control periods (or lack of) by taking two packs together.
In my week break I know to the exact day and time when I will start my period, and they are light and only last three or four days.
Contraception seems to work for me as I don't have any kids!
If you miss a pill, you have a 12 hour period in which to take the next one - great if your memory isn't that good.

Bad Points
I had one migraine but am inclined to believe that was due to stress and not the pill, as I had been on it for 11 years without ever having one before.
Increased breast size - I had to buy new underwear!
Some weight gain but not terrible.
Antibiotics can affect this pill but that just means being extra careful for a week...
The Verdict
I will be switching back to Cilest as soon as I can! Excellent pill.

I've been on it about a year now, and after reading these, I've begun to notice some things that started when I first started this pill. However, it suited me much better than microgynon since I had an allergic reaction to that one.
Good Points
Didn't get big painful red swellings on my legs.
Bigger boobs.
No other weight gain.
Bad Points
Much worse pmt.
Low self-esteem.
Bad period pains.
More irritable.
The Verdict
Despite the bad points, I am just thankful that it was better than last time.

Hi Ladies,

Left a review here a couple of months back and just wanted to give you an update.
I came off Cilest and after about 4 weeks I felt back to normal :) My sex drive has returned, i feel much happier, i have more energy.

Unfortunatley my spots have returned but nothing too serious. Will keep trying other pills to find one that suits. Its all just trial and error!
Good Points
Bad Points
The Verdict
I would say to anyone who is having problems with their pill to have a trial break (even just a month) and see the difference.

Introduction
I had been on Dianette for my skin since 2000 and then moved onto Cilest in 2004 and had previously had no side effects (but I did, I had just not thought about it!).

About a year ago I realised that my personality had really changed and my OH suggested that I should maybe try a break off the pill incase it was Cilest that was causing me to feel so horrendous.

I deliberated for another 6 months and then I found these reviews which kick started me to ditch the pill.

3 months off Cilest and I can't tell you how much better I am; infact I feel like a changed person.
Good Points
Now I have stopped Cilest I can say the only good point was that it stopped me from getting pregnant.
Bad Points
Ok I had;

Horrendous moods, particularly in the mornings. I was in pain to speak to someone before 11am.

Terrible IBS: lots of emergency dashes to the toilets with exploding guts.

Complete loss of sex drive.

Always tired and feeling run down.

Really bad period pains and PMT

The Verdict
Now I have been off Cilest I feel so much better in my head (mentally), I am no longer moody or aggressive. Everyone around me says that I am back to my good old self. My fiancée said it is so good to have his girlfriend back.

My IBS has seriously improved. I have not had a diarrhoea attack since i came off Cilest.

I have so much more energy: it's unbelievable!

I have had two 'normal' periods now and have had no period pains, no PMT (which is a revelation) and

The only thing is that my Spots have returned.....my skin is pretty bad but that could be my hormones getting sorted.

I am also more interested in my partner but the only problem is now finding a reliable method by which to not get pregnant.

Thank you to everyone who has contributed here as if I had not read this I wouldn't have realised that it was the Cilest that was making me ill, stroppy and tired. I am a changed person and so much happier. Thank you.

Introduction
I was on Yaz in the United States but moved to the UK in Feb 2008. They don't have Yaz over here so after talking to the physician about the effects I had (mostly spotting), she suggested I try Cilest.

I was determined to give it the 3 month trial period but couldn't wait to get off of it after the first week. I actually went on this website during this period and saw that I wasn't alone. But I kept thinking that the side effects would subside. They didn't budge.

After the first 7 days I gained a solid 7 pounds in my tummy, behind and legs. My calves felt like someone poured 3 gallons of water in them. They were so tight and painful, I couldn't stop thinking about it all day. The worst thing was the pain in my breasts. Oh my god. They did grow quite a bit but they were so painful that I could hardly sleep on my side. The only time this went away was when I actually got my period. Within 24 hours of starting the next pack, the pain was back. Every single step I took was like someone was pulling down on them with a hook. Awful.

During this time I was trying to be positive and knew that sometimes it takes a while for your body to adjust. But I just couldn't wait to get off of it. And seven pounds may not sound like a lot to some people but it meant buying all new jeans and underwear for me. Not something girls like to do.

So after the 3 months I changed to Yasmin. Because it's a sister pill to Yaz, the doc was afraid I would have the same side effect. I was going to risk it.

It's been 2 weeks and I've lost 5 of the 7 pounds. I haven't changed my eating habits or activities. I'm telling you, I feel sooooooo much better. My breast don't hurt, my calves aren't bloated, my tummy is flat again. This all within 2 weeks.

I couldn't wait to see if there would actually be a change so that I could share it with you all. I really hope this helps others in their search for the right pill.
Good Points
None.
Oh, increased breast size.
Bad Points
Severe bloating
Weight gain
Muscle tightness
Extreme pain in breasts
Breakouts on chest area
The Verdict
I know everyone reacts differently to each pill. But I have been on quite a few in my life (I''m 36) and this was the worse as faw as its effects on my body (and self esteem).

Introduction
I've been on Cilest for just over 5 years now, when I first started taking it I was warned by my GP that I needed to give it at least 3 months for it to settle down which I did extremely reluctantly as my moodswings went through the roof - but things did calm down from then. However my libido has been severly affected, after my teens my sex drive decreased anyway but over the last 3 years sex makes me feel physically sick and just recently actually makes me physically sick!!! after reading these reviews I'm taking a break for the next 6 mths......
Good Points
Lighter periods.
Knowing exact day (and virtually time!!) of when period will start.
I fell pregnant on Microgynon 30 before I was moved onto Cilest so thankfully no pregnancy this time!!
Bad Points
Complete loss of libido.
over the last year mood swings have become severe again.
the week before my period I become very stressed, paranoid!! and emotional.
Weight gain but unfortunately boobs have not grown!
The Verdict
It suited me for a long time so I would still recommend this pill and would encourage people who are in the first couple of months to bear with it as symptoms do tend to subside, however I will be taking a break for the above reasons.

I have taken the contraceptive pill for over 12 years and tried a number of different pills. The best one for me was Brevinor as I had virtually no side effects and no periods! However my skin wasn't too good, and my doctor put me on a six month course of Dianette, which was so good for my skin I didn't want to change back.
My GP then suggested Cilest as it is a skin-friendly pill and I couldn't stay on Dianette due to the health risks (blood clots). I have been taking Cilest for around 8 months now.
Good Points
Skin is clear
No period pain
Light bleeds
Bad Points
Irritability
Lethargy
Irrational behaviour
Depression
Low self esteem
Bleeding for 2-3 weeks each month

Good Points
Not pregnant
No weight gain (in fact I lost some)
Light, regular and short periods
Hardly any period pain
Increased a cup size
No PMT
Bad Points
When 2 packs run back to back I get a longer really light period (about 2 weeks)
Some nausea and stomach cramps in the middle of my cycle (it's happened about 3 times in the last year)

I really like this pill, I think it's well suited to me. Very little to complain about.

Was on Dianette for 3 months to clear up my acne - I found this to be an excellent pill - no side effects/clear skin/regular periods etc. Unfortunatley my doctor advised me to come off Dianette due to its association with blood clots etc. I was put on Cilest (another skin friendly pill)
Good Points
Skin has stayed clear
Regular periods
no babies (however cilest made me HATE sex so not really relevant!)
Bad Points
Nausea - up through the night around 5-6 times a month feeling violently sick but unable to bring anything up. At first I actually thought it was food poisoning, but then noticed I was getting ill around the same time each month (i.e around 7 days into a packet after the break.) Went into work the following day feeling like hell!!

ZERO libido - I have never experienced this in my life. The thought of sex actually disgusted me. I felt terrible for my poor boyfriend :(

Constant PMT - I usually get PMT on day before my period. With cilest it was every day - crying at ridiculous things, snapping, happy one minute depressed the next. Felt like a different person.

The Verdict
I came off cilest half way through a packet as I could no longer go to bed each night wondering if I would wake up a few hours later feeling like crap!!

Spots will probably return - but whats the point in clear skin if you are going to feel bloated/ugly anyway?!

I took Cilest for 4 months after I had finished breastfeeding my daughter. I have now stopped taking it as it turned me into a total lunatic to the point where it was seriously damaging my health, my confidence and worst of all, my relationship with my husband. I felt normal for most of the time but for the week leading up to my period I experienced a viscious cycle of being irritable, irrational, snappy, stressed, crying, uncontrollably angry and depressed, all for absolutely no reason. Since stopping the pill completely I feel much healthier and happier- as does my poor husband!
Good Points
Periods were lighter and no pain
Clear skin
Bad Points
Horrendous PMS causing complete personality change and guilt afterwards for the way I was treating the people I love most but was out of my control.
Spotting in between periods
The Verdict
Everyone is different but this pill was definitely not for me, and judging by the other comments on this site, not for alot of other people either. I am relieved to be off it, and to know that it wasn't just me going insane.

I have been on cilest for about 2 1/2 years now, but had a break of about 6 months in between.

When I came off the pill, I lost a lot of weight and my boobs got smaller - a good thing for me as they are far too big! I didn't realise however that this was down to cilest at the time, only when I went back on it and my boobs got bigger and my weight increased did I notice this!

I have also been very moody and snappy at my poor boyf as of late...it gives you terrible PMS!
Good Points
no babies - best point.
periods are light/painfree and regular.
Bad Points
bad PMS,
giant boobs. ARRGGH!
weight gain.
The Verdict
The pill is okay and if u want massive breasts then I suggest you go on it, for me however it just isn't suited.

I really want to come off the pill now, I don't really want to try another just yet because I want to get my body back to the way it was before.

When i first started taking cilest i thought i was losing my mind. I was unbelievable lethargic, moody and an emotional wreck. I had never experienced panic attacks until then, it was horrible. I was on other medication and that could have been a factor, but my experience was awful. It did get better after 3 months but i discontinued it for the sake of my sanity. The tiredness didn't get better.
Good Points
Well my skin was completely blemish free, and my breast seem to have increased substantially. Which was great at the time as i had hardly anything to boast about.
Bad Points
1) Extreme tiredness.
2) Became emotionally unstable.
3) Breast shrunk back to original size when i stopped.
4) Breast were extremely sore, adds to lack of sex drive.
The Verdict
I took this this pill as a recommendation, it is not for everyone, try it and if you feel your losing your marbles then perhaps its not the one for you.

Have just started on this pill have been on it a little over a week, tried an other brand and had really bad side-effects such as moodswings (which caused me to quit my job) Weight gain- as soon as I came off my other pill and switched to this one within 4days I had lost a little over 6pounds which i was pleased about. Can't really say on many of this pills side-effects, the only thing that really worrys me is the amount of people losing interest in sex?
Good Points
Lost wight that i gained with my other pill.

Its pink :O

I dont think im pregnant..?

No moodswings yet.
Bad Points
I am getting really worried about the how many people have said they had lost all interest in sex, I am considering talking to my doctor and getting this pill changed to an other just because of this reason. I dont have a high-sex drive as it is, and my boyfriend does. I cant bare to lose interest all together or I might just lose my boyfriend.
The Verdict
I think I shall stay on this pill for a month and if I lose interest in sex then I will come off of this, and can I just ask I went on the website for this pill and it looks as if it is for 10 year old girls? That makes me feel a little sick.

I've been on cilest for nearly 5 years and up til about 4 months ago I hadn't had a problem at all. I then started to get really sever mood wings - I'd had them a little before I guess but they seemed to get so bad I would cry at the drop of a hat, feel fat and ugly. I knew it wasn't stress etc as i've just got married, had fantastic holidays, started a new job and for some of the time I feel fantastic. I also used to have acne prior to being on cilest and again, this came back just after the wedding (thank god it wasn't before!) and now I'm covered in spots! My skin is greasy , and so's my hair. I'm more susceptible to thrush than ever before and I've definitely put on weight that I can't shift!
Good Points
No babies!
Regular-ish periods ( again this has got worse)
Bad Points
Bad moods
Acne
Weight gain
depression and bad PMS
Period pains like you woldn't believe
The Verdict
For 5 years I had no problems at all so I would say mostly good. Up til recently i thought I was going through some kind of depressive breakdown, then I saw this site and others like it! I've now been on Cilest for 2 months after a nightmare month on Microgynon...
Good Points
-Breasts have grown (But not a ridiculous amount)
-No pregnancy so far!
-No nausea as with some other pills
-Not too much weight gain
Bad Points
-Bad water retention for first month or so which does make it feel like you've gained a stone in weight-but that's not actually the case..it's just water and it seems to be lessening now
-Makes me slightly irrational at times, but not half as much as Microgynon did
-Loss of libido in the sense that when we get down to it, it can take me a long time to reach orgasm which never happened before. And my libido has always been quite high so this has been strange for me
-spotting when I ran 2 packs together-have been light bleeding for 4 days now, despite not actually being on a 7 day break
-on and off with period pains due to spotting
The Verdict
It's better than Microgynon and I reckon a lot of it is down to the individual and how your body responds. Cilest is ok, but I may look to change if the spotting continues.

Still not pregnant after 3 and a half years
Boobs got slightly bigger - about 1 cup size
Very regular periods
Easy to carry on 2 packs and miss a period
Bad Points
I didn't think there was any bad points until I read the other reviews, I have suffered with IBS symptoms and I believe this may be linked to Cilest.
The only other bad point is that when you miss a period your next period is a lot heavier.

I used to be on Dianette, but came off it after 6 months because i turned into an emotional wreck so the doctor changed me to Cilest coz apparently it helped with moods!? If anything, its made me worse! Within a few days of taking it, i was a complete nasty horrible emotionless cow! Now im an over emotional wreck! I already suffer with depression, anxiety and monthly problems but the pill seems to make everything so much worse! Maybe im just not suited to the pill, and im scared of trying another brand!
Good Points
No pregnancy (hopefully..awaiting period!)
Slightly bigger boobs
Bad Points
Depression.
Anxiety.
Irrational thoughts.
Feeling majorly unhappy about everything, just can't seem to think positive, and i feel like im an ugly mess! My confidence has definitly gone down the drain!
Not sleeping very well.

Been on this pill about a year and a half ever since a split condom incident. I have a friend on the same one and she doesn't seen to have any problems however it must just depend on the person cus it has had terrible effects on me.
Good Points
- Not pregnant (I hope)
- No spot breakouts
Bad Points
- Slight weight gain
- Incredible mood swings
- Crying all the time, feeling depressed and stressed
- In the past year I have totaly lost my sex drive and I'm wayyyy too young to be sayin "No sorry huni I'm not in the mood tonight" every night!! I'm only 18!
- Never had cramps before until I started this pill
- Periods are actually LESS regular than before, I'm currently 2 days late
- Bloatedness
- Made my IBS symptoms a lot worse
- Sometimes due to bloated stomach, nausea, cramps and late periods I start worrying that I might be pregnant which is pretty stressful
- Packet is huge
The Verdict
My sister pointed out to me a few weeks ago that when she was on this pill the hormones messed with her head a lot and it took her years to find a pill that agreed with her. I'm definately going to the doctor soon and asking for a new one. My boyfriend has been suffering too as i snap at him all the time, arguing about twice a week. Cannot wait to be back to my normal self again

I've been changing pills almost constantly over the past year or so after 5 years on microgynon gave me a few issues. I've had minor problems with a few of the other ones I was put on so just popped to the doctors in the hope that eventually i'd settle on one that was pefect...but this is by far the worst! I've not really had many problems with the pill, just increased mood swings on some, more period pains on others, but this one has had the worst effect of them all.
Good Points
Standard answer of no babies.

Boobs have maybe grown a little bit!
Bad Points
Stomach cramps even when I'm not near the end of a pack

Hair falling out (I've checked, and apparently its to do with hormones in the pill..)

Slight weight gain.

Complete loss of interest in sex (goddamn!!)

Feel really stressed, upset and depressed for the majority of my cycle...had a really low self esteem as well!
The Verdict
There are no benefits with this pill that couldn't be had with another and theres nothing that can ruin your sex life more than no sexdrive, being fat, losing hair and feeling convinced that you're ugly...!! Although maybe thats how the contraceptive part of it works...?!

Came across this site after googling to see if i could run two packs back to back - so glad i did now, not even going to bother trying and am going to come off as soon as the current pack is finished. Been on this pill for about 2 years, switched after having my daughter cause of bleeding between pill free times but took months before things settled.
Good Points
Haven't got pregnant, but then as i am paranoid about pregnancy i do tend to make the other half use something as well. Its called having three kids and no intention of making that 4...
Bad Points
* Still spot occasionally and bleed for a couple of days between periods sometimes

* Complete lack of sex drive - thick or what but never even thought it could be down to this, i put it down to the birth of my daughter but that was over 2 years ago so am more inclined to blame this pill now. I thank god for a patient hubby.

* Get bad mood swings, can feel myself snapping and know i'm being unreasonable but just cant help it - again i thank god for the patient hubby.

* Period doesnt start on the same day each pill free week, can be anything between 2-6 days after the last pill. one occasion i had started a new pack before i started to bleed.

* Get more spots than i did as a teenager

* Missed pill on couple of occasions, though i havent bled i've always had bad stomach cramps for a few days after forgetting a pill.

* Always been dead pleased ive never really suffered from PMT - now you need to avoid me for the first few days before im due on or risk getting your head bitten off
The Verdict
DEFINITELY coming off this pill, i've always wondered how i can still feel so cr*p after having my daughter despite finally managing to lose the weight put on after my children, and now i think i know. I should be feeling far more confident than i have done for years! I look forward to the reappearance of my sex drive, i still fancy my hubby like mad but i'm just never in the mood - I just hope coming off does solve this! Glad to see im not the only one who feels thick for not realising it could be due to the pill though!

IBS symptoms, on toilet all the time, lots of wind
Felt really hungry but never gained weight purely because the pill made me really nauseous. Lots of cravings for different food, i would fancy a chinese at 10pm!
Dont know if this is related to the pill but ive had lots of dizzy spells because my blood pressure has dropped the last 2 months.
Feeling weak and like i cant be bothered to do anything.
Had some bloating but not much.
Had one bout of breakthrough bleeding which is something im not prone to, seemed to be quite heavy for a few hours then stopped. Weird!
All these symptoms made me think i was pregnant which made me worry quite a bit.
The Verdict
I love my boyfriend so im coming off cilest for him! he doesnt deserve a bitch for a girlfriend! And i dont want to lose my temper with my daughter anymore.

Introduction
i was on dianette for about 8 months to clear up my spots as i had quite bad acne and it worked really well however when i first went on it i kept getting really bad headaches everyday and it made me really depressive and i was crying everynight. I then got my pill changed to cilest as the depressive moods and headaches got too much and i was using it for contraception. Ive been on this one for 2 months and as i was going away for my birthday i decided to put two packs together so that i missed my period however i came on my period and 3 weeks later im still on and its only getting heavier. Thinking i might have to go back to the doctors and get it changed again. its driving me mental.
Good Points
-no baby
-slightly bigger boobs
-no depressiveness or headaches liek i ahd with dianette
Bad Points
-Put two packs back to back and your period is much longer (still waiting 3 weeks later for it to end!)
-the pack it comes in is huge
The Verdict
not really for me as i would rather be able to miss my period for a holiday etc.

I was warned about this one by a friend before I took it, but after moody microgynon didn't think it could be worse...... WRONG! In just 2 months I have gained 10lbs because I eat all the time, not because I want to but because I am genuinely really hungry and feel rubbish!

Going to ask the GP if I can give Yasmin a try - 2 friends have said that this has helped a lot with the weight and they feel so so so much better.

Angry - I am seriously rageful for no reason. I screamed at my boyfriend for getting paint on the lightswitch the other day. Total over-reaction!

Introduction
this pill gave me a nervous breakdown
Good Points
no babies
bigger boobs
Bad Points
gave me horrendous mood swings that culminated in actual depression. i gained a lot of weight and experienced some hair loss too.

all this ate away at my self esteem, and i ultimately had what i believe to be a nervous breakdown, after which i couldn't leave the house for a week, i was such an emotional wreck.

prior to this i had been an easy-going happy-go-lucky kind of girl and i genuinely thought i was going crazy. it was a while before it clicked it had been cilest.

i came off it as soon as i realised and quickly returned to my normal, happy, healthy self, which for me confirmed the role of the pill in it all.

i know everyone's experience is different, but i would urge anyone who is having similar symptoms to find another way that isn't going to threaten their health, happiness or relationship.

but if it's only birth control that you're concerned with, this is the pill for you - i mean, who'll be queuing up to impregnate you when you're a bald, fat psycho!?
The Verdict
approach at your own peril..
